Daniel Walters and Michael Duarte Top the field on the Upper Bay

The second SQT Trail tournament took place on Saturday, May16th out of Dundee State Park. This was another great day for a tidal water tournament as far as the weather and for fish catches. The majority of the field caught their limit of bass per team and the weights confirmed that.

The team of Daniel Walters and Michael Duarte put the beat down on them with a total weight of 19.98 pounds for their best 5 fish. Their day started off with a calm run up to the Susquehanna Flats to find that their first spot only had 2 other boats on it. Michael said, “we pulled up and caught our first keeper on a swim jig.” “Our next fish I lost on a senko that took my worm but, I quickly threw back in there and caught her on a swim jig.” That fish was pushing 5 pounds. Minutes later, Danny would catch their biggest fish on a senko. Within an hour, “we caught a bunch of fish and had 16 pounds after making several culls.” They would continue to fish other areas and caught plenty of fish but, nothing would help add to their total weight. Michael said, “we decided to camp out on the spot we started the day on.” “The tide was getting low on the milfoil edge and the fish were sitting right to the little 30 ft. stretch on the edge.” It got really slick calm so Michael picked up a drop shot and made several culls throwing the drop shot right before they had to run back down too Dundee.

Justin Bronson and Thad Loor teamed up to finish in second place with 18.22 pounds for their best 5 fish. The team of Ken Eng and Kevin Maccallini would finish in third place with a total weight of 18.09 pounds.

Daniel and Michael is now leading the year to date standings after winning this tournament and placing 2nd in the first SQT on the Lower Potomac. The team of Ken Eng and Kevin Maccallini are in 2nd place in the overall standings and only one point out of first place. Ken and Kevin won the first tournament on the Lower Potomac and followed that up a 3rd place finish in this one. The father and son team of Mike Roselle and Richard Roselle hold down third place in the standings.
