Maryland BASS Nation awards academic scholarships to youth
Each year, the Maryland BASS Nation awards academic scholarships to youth, from the state of Maryland, who will be continuing their educational journey in college. The Butch Ward scholarship fund was established to reward these hard-working kids and assist them on their journey. Your faithfulness to this fund makes a difference in the lives of these young men and women. I am proud to have known and fished with Butch Ward and I am grateful to his wife Linda and to Jim “Pint” Kline for helping to establish the scholarship fund.
This morning, I received the following correspondence from Ethan Arteburn – a recent recipient of the Butch Ward Scholarship Fund:
“At Goldburn Engineering, we are building a tool to bring the underwater world into focus. We hope to inform and inspire a generation of youth who know and care about what lies beneath the surface of the water. With the generous support of a grant from Maryland BASS Nation, we were able to bring our prototype to life: an underwater camera trap. We are proud to share that last week, we were awarded Best Product at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Transcend UW pitch competition. We would like to extend our tremendous appreciation to Maryland BASS Nation for the contribution they made with the Butch Ward Youth Scholarship Fund, helping us produce our prototype! Thank you for investing in innovation and helping us achieve our shared mission of supporting those to come.”
Respectfully,
Charlie Clifford
